# Requesting account and data deletion

Deleting your Beamer account is permanent, and it's different from cancelling your subscription. This article covers which one you need and how to request deletion.

## Deleting vs. cancelling

| You want to… | Do this |
| --- | --- |
| Stop being billed but keep your account and content | Cancel your subscription — see [Can I cancel my subscription?](https://help.userflow.com/beamer/docs/en/can-i-cancel-my-subscription) |
| Move to a smaller plan | Downgrade — see [How to downgrade or change your plan](https://help.userflow.com/beamer/docs/en/how-to-downgrade-or-change-your-plan) |
| Permanently remove the account and everything in it | Request deletion, below |
| Remove one team member's access | Delete the user — see [How to delete users?](https://help.userflow.com/beamer/docs/en/how-to-delete-users) |
| Remove the stored data for one of your end users | Use **Settings > Privacy**, below |

## Removing data for a single end user

If you only need to remove the data Beamer has stored about one of your end users, you can do this yourself and you don't need to contact us:

1. Go to **Settings > Privacy**.
2. Search for the user.
3. Delete their stored data.

This permanently removes that user's data and leaves your account intact.

## Requesting account deletion

Account deletion isn't self-serve — our team processes it for you. The request has to come from an Administrator on the account.

1. Open the in-app chat from the bottom-left of your dashboard.
2. Tell us you want to delete your account.
3. Include your Product ID and the reason for the deletion.

Sending your Product ID in the first message saves a round trip, because we ask for it every time to make sure we delete the right account.

**Finding your Product ID:** it's the identifier shown in the top bar of your Beamer dashboard.

Once we've confirmed the details with you, the account is permanently deleted within 7 days, and we'll let you know when it's done.

If the Administrator on your account has left the company, let us know and we'll take it from there.

## If you have more than one account

A single login can hold several Beamer accounts, and each has its own Product ID. This matters most if you created an extra account by accident — for example, signing in with Google SSO created a second account you didn't intend.

Switch between accounts from the account menu at the bottom-left of the dashboard, and confirm the Product ID in the top bar before you send it to us. We delete only the Product ID you name, so your other accounts aren't affected.

## What to know before you ask

- Deletion is permanent. Posts, feedback, NPS responses, segments, and user data all go with the account.
- Deletion doesn't refund the current or prior payments. If billing is your concern, cancelling may be what you actually want.
- If you have an active subscription, tell us — we'll handle the cancellation alongside the deletion so you aren't billed again.

For where your data lives and how we handle it, see [Security and compliance](https://help.userflow.com/beamer/docs/en/security-and-compliance).
