If you go over the Monthly Active Users (MAUs) included in your plan, Beamer adds MAU bundles to your subscription automatically: - **Starter and Pro:** each bundle adds 5,000 MAUs for $50/month. - **Scale:** each bundle adds 50,000 MAUs for $150/month. - **Custom:** your account team handles overage with you directly. Bundles are billed 14 days after you go over your limit (see the review window below), and show on your next invoice. Beamer doesn't send an email when a bundle is added. While you're over your limit, your dashboard header shows your MAU usage, and a top bar on your Changelog page asks you to upgrade. ## MAU overage review window Beamer provides a 14-day grace period for MAU overages, allowing you the opportunity to evaluate whether the recent activity indicates significant growth or merely a temporary fluctuation, enabling you to modify your plan with confidence. ## Removing MAU bundles when your usage drops MAU bundles are added automatically when your usage goes over your plan's limit. They are not removed automatically when your usage drops again. You can't remove a bundle from Settings > Billing. Billing shows your base plan, not the bundles on top of it. To remove one: 1. Open the chat at the bottom-left of your dashboard, type "talk to a person," and send us your Product ID and what you need. Automated replies can't make this change, so the request needs to reach our team. 2. Include your Product ID and tell us which bundles you want removed. The removal takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We don't refund the current period. ## If your MAU count is far higher than your real number of users The most common cause is that your site isn't sending a `user_id` for each person. Without one, Beamer can't tell people apart, so it counts every browser and device as a new user. A product with 30,000 real users can show 70,000 MAUs or more, and the extra bundles are added on top of your plan. To fix it: 1. Send a unique `user_id` for every logged-in user in your Beamer script. See [How to send user data to the Beamer script](/beamer/docs/how-to-send-user-data-to-the-beamer-script). 2. Load Beamer only after login, so logged-out visitors aren't counted. See [How can I reduce MAUs?](/beamer/docs/how-can-i-reduce-maus-monthly-active-users) 3. Open the chat at the bottom-left of your dashboard, type "talk to a person," and tell us you've made the change. We'll check that `user_id` is coming through. Automated replies can't check this, so the request needs to reach our team. MAU is counted over a rolling 30 days, so your count drops gradually after the fix. While you work on it, we can pause automatic bundles on your account. Ask us in the same chat. We don't credit bundles already charged, because they reflect the usage that was recorded. ## "Your account is temporarily locked!" If you see this message, our team has blocked the account. This happens in two cases: - **Your MAU count is far above your plan's limit**, usually because no `user_id` is being sent. We contact the account before blocking it. - **An invoice has stayed unpaid** well past its due date. See [What happens if my Beamer payment is past due?](/beamer/docs/past-due-accounts) While the account is blocked, your Changelog doesn't load for your users. To get unblocked: 1. Click **contact support** in the message, or email support@getbeamer.com. Include your Product ID. 2. For an MAU block: send a unique `user_id` for every user and load Beamer only after login, then tell us the change is live. We unblock the account and monitor it for about a week. If `user_id` keeps coming through, the account stays active. 3. For a billing block: pay the outstanding invoice in Settings > Billing, or tell us if you think it's already paid. We send block warnings to the contacts we have on file. If the person who set up Beamer has left, make sure someone current is an Administrator in Settings > Team, so our emails reach them.
