Here are a few strategies you can implement.
To lower or limit your Monthly Active Users (MAUs), :
Send a
user_idfor every user. This has the biggest effect. Without it, Beamer counts each browser and device as a new user, so one person can count several times. Pass the sameuser_idfor a person on every device. See How to send user data to the Beamer script.Load Beamer only after login. Don’t embed Beamer on public pages or pages people reach before logging in, so casual visitors aren’t counted.
Keep bots and automated tests out. Status monitors and test scripts that load pages with Beamer count as users. Either don’t initialize Beamer for them, or give the automated user one fixed
user_idso it counts once.
Additional Context:
Unique Users vs Unique Loads: Unique users are counted based on user identity, not page loads. If the same user accesses your app from different devices but uses the same user_id, they will be counted as one unique user. However, without a user_id, Beamer relies on cookies to track users, which may result in counting the same user on different devices or browsers as multiple users, thereby increasing your MAU.
